Please don't treat your GSD with insulin on your own. There is rapid acting, short acting, long acting and insulin like Lantus which is for 24 hour use. Your dog will metabolize the drug differently than a human. They must be taken a very specific times, you need to know the onset, peak, half life and duration of each specific type of insulin.
Insulin is so serious a drug, that in hospitals, you need two nurses to check and sign off on the correct dosage. Please consult a vet for treatment recommendations. Who knows maybe they will start with a conservative treatment through diet. |

While under a vets care and managing with their recommendations, the best treatment is to reverse with a home-made RAW food diet...under a vets care a trained vet in holistic medicine and certified nutritionist
