We went to the dog park today and let Brutus run. When we came home I noticed something dangling from his paw. I went to look at it and it was torn with a piece of skin dangling from it. I cleaned it really good with soap and water and have been watching it.( which by the way made me cry when he started crying in pain)
. He isn't limping and it just looks like the top of the skin came off. I also put a little neosporin on there. Is there anything I can do to make sure he doesn't keep licking it? or is there any signs of infection that I need to watch for? I saw a little bit of blood on his fur after we had gone to the store about an hour later. I plan to keep cleaning with soap and water and making sure he doesn't get into anything dirty. Thanks in advance, |

Can you post a pic? Probably just keep an eye on it and keep it clean.

I had the same thing happen a few months ago. My vet trimmed it, and said keep it clean, and use Desitin to give it a barrier. Only problem is then you get desitin tracked everywhere. During the day I put it on and then stuck a sock over her foot....She was good as new in no time. But she must have been in a lot of pain for a day or two, because she was acting like she was drugged....
