Unhappy Need help. Back from the vet... Mange.

Ok just got back from the vet a few hours ago. Circe has missing hair on the tips of her ears. I took to the vet Bc I was worried could it be yeast or ear infection? After talking with vet it is mange!!!!

He said I could buy a dip from the "pet store". I'm concered with horror stories I'd heard about the chemicals. So has any one dealt with this before? What form of treatment did you use. I'm currently looking into the homopathic route Vetionx Defendex. The vet said there is also shot called Ivomectin but doesn't preffer to use it on herding breeds. Have you heard of this? I need your help!

I really open to suggestions on treating this. I just want to do this healthiness way I can and get rid of this mange.

Ivermectin has a long record of being safe and an effective treatment for demodectic mange.

That's what I want to know. I see that its in heartguard...
the vet said he doesn't like to use it on herding breeds. For sure not collie's, aussies and shelties. After some reading there is a gene MDR1 gene that can make Ivermectin lethal. I read there is also a test to see if your dog carries the gene mutation MDR1. However he said that might be an option if the dip doesn't work. I told him that I want to look into first with a few people I know. Confusing stuff! I just want to this the safe way.

YOU DO NOT NEED TO USE IVERMECTIN FOR LOCALIZED MANGE.

Sorry, but it an unnecessary use of pesticides on your dog. And the mange would probably go away even if you did nothing.

Use the immune building supplements and apply Neem oil and it will go away quickly.

There is a sticky in the holistic system with all kinds of info (from when Rafi had mange).

What type of Neem Oil product do you recommend? Just the oil? Sarcoptic mange is what my paper work says. I think I'm going to have to treat Otto too. I see some thinning of the hair in his ears aswell. Oh my goodness! I think I'm not going yo sleep tonight. My stress level is super high about this.....
