Question Corneal Distrophy/Cholesterol Deposit

My pup was diagnosed with a cholesterol deposit on his left eye by his vet last Friday at his 16 week check-up. The vet seemed very nonchalant about it and indicated that it should not have any real adverse impact on my dog. He also mentioned that it could possibly spontaneously resolve. The spot on his eye is relatively small and he doesn't show any signs of discomfort or impaired vision. The spot has been there about 2 weeks.

I spoke with his breeder and she offered to pay for a visit with a specialist if I felt concerned or if it gets any larger.

Does anybody have any experience with this? Is it something I should take to a specialist or should I give it a little time to resolve before going that route?

He's four months?

I will see if a couple of old threads are still here, but the dogs are much older that had it.

I think with a puppy, I would want to see an eye doctor.

My female GSD has a spot of it.

I had a dog with that in both eyes. The vet was totally unconcerned. He lived a long happy life without incident. It seemed like it should affect his vision, but he never showed any signs that it did.

Yes. He's 4 months. I do have an Eye Care for Animals clinic nearby and I think I will take him there for an exam just to be sure. The vet said it could potentially spontaneously resolve or will likely never worsen to the point of impacting Riggs' vision, but I think a second opinion may ease my mind.

I tried for a picture last night but trying to get a picture of the eye of a 4-month old is a more-than-one-person job, especially if you're using a phone camera! Ha. I will have to try again.
