Question growing pains

i have a german shepherd that will be 6 months on the 18th. he has been to the vet 3 times in the last 3 weeks. i took him cause every time he would mover he would moan and yipe in pain. the vet said he has growing pains.they just put him on a pain killer and steroids. they seem to be helping him. he has been gaining about 15lbs a month, but im not over feeding him. he is already 65lbs. is there any i can do to help him besides giving him the medication?

Never hurts to get a second opinion. Do you know which joint or movement causes the pain? Any limping? Maybe a couple xrays are in order. He may have swallowed something sharp and that could perforate his bowels..

Maybe limit his exercise so that he is not running or jumping, keep him on a leash till his symptoms start getting better. That is what I did with my boy and it worked ok for us. Good luck with your boy and I hope that it is just growing pains and he will be fine.

he is on beniful puppy. the vet said not to change him over to adult till he is 10 months. he is always kept on a leash due to the fact that my yard is not fensed in. however we do sometimes put on in a 100ft lead if were outside with him. but since his pain started we have not been doing that cause we want to limit his running, jumping, exc... it is in his front legs mostly. but back legs get it to but very rarely. i have seen two different vets about this and they both said the same thing. i even asked if they could do X-rays to be sure. he is now on a pain killer and steroids and they seem to be really helping him alot with the pain. he has not been having any issues. i just cant wait till this is over because he is only 6 months and all he wants to do is play and i feel like i cant play with him. its like i have a china doll and not a puppy!!!!!
