Default Scabby Bumps

Mack my 4y/o male has had skin allergies for the past 3 yrs specifically his lower back area. The vet has said to just give him benadryl, which has worked in controling flare ups of his dry skin and course coat in his lower back region. Yesterday I noticed 2 scabby bumps one behind his left ear and the other behind his left shoulder. They move around with the skin so they are not stationary and they are kinda hard. I'm hoping someone can give me a hint as to what they might be either doggy pimples or skin allergy? No fleas or ticks and he was always had the same diet. I'm at a loss and before I take him to the vet I wanted to see if anyone here could possibly know what they are. Thanks.

Can you post some pictures?

Is he scratching the area with the scabs?

Do you give fish oil?

No havnt tried fish oil? I'm assuming that it's good for skin allergies? And let me see if I can get a good pic. And I have not seen him scratching them today. As a matter of fact I have not seen him scratch the one behind his ear at all and the one on the left side I've ssen him scratch that area twice. I'm gonna try to get a pic. Thanks for replying I'm pretty confused about what they could be and get super nervous about random things such as this.

Hey Macks Dad, Welcome to the forum.

Our 4 year old also has skin issues and our vet suggested fish oil & benadryl. But then in the summer we noticed "scabby bumps" and when tested the vet determined it was a skin infection which was treated with antibiotics and steroids.

Unless there's an allergy to fish...fish oil is really good for dogs & humans. My boy get's salmon oil in a pump bottle because it's easy & he will spit out the pills. But alot of people will give their dogs the same fish oil they take themselves.

Um, thanks for the info I will have to try the fish oil thing. Mack's been on steroids before for the skin allergies also during the summer when he chewed the hair off his butt (which was just horrible). Guess I'll just take him over to the vet to hopefully rule out skin infection. Thanks.

Allergies are the worst The fish oil suggestion was just to hopefully ease the dry skin you mentioned, but I am not sure about the scabs...if you can still try to post pictures.
