Choices have to be made with compassion for the animal

Is the dog enduring life or enjoying life.

Lakl that was a very moving and loving tribute.

whatever the choice I will support .

Thank you, Carmen. You know first hand his issues and what I have been dealing with and have been helping me since the day I brought him home, so I know and understand your take on all of this. You've taught me A LOT in the past year, and it is appreciated more than you know...

**Just a follow up***

I arranged a phone consult yesterday with another specialist outside of New Orleans just to get a second opinion. I emailed her the post op x-rays and the ones done last Thursday. Her opinion was that they were some of the worst hips she'd seen, that I should immediately move forward with the surgery, and there was no reason that he should not be able to live a normal life after the surgery. She also agreed with my vet that the ridges around the bone of the post op side were normal and a result of the condition of his hips and the healing process. She did not think the pano was a big concern since it was not severe and would pass with time. He is still scheduled for Thursday, so I will keep everyone updated on his progress. Thank you for all the kind thoughts and concern for my lil man!

That's great that you got a supporting 2nd opinion! And that was a beautiful tribute. I can't wait to read how well he is doing when this is all said and done!

Love the tribute to your sweet birthday boy!

The phone consult sounds very positive, I'm so glad you're going ahead with the surgery now.

(((((((((Lakl))))))))

WOW. I don't know how I missed that video before. My heart just ached with a mixture of joy and empathy and angst during the whole thing. He really does look like Rocket, and the whole time I imagined if it were ME and Rocket....I feel for you, and Achilles, and completely understand your desire to give him the gift of a pain-free life. The love, and the trust in his eyes..... :choke:

I will stand with you and hope for the best for him. Some day, there may come a point where the gift of peace and pain relief will lead you in a different direction, but TODAY IS NOT THAT DAY.

Kudos to you, my friend.
