That persistent panting, it's so hard, and it make you feel so helpless.

Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever can also cause this, which isn't as well known. RMSF is known for high fevers too, though I think you can see that with all the tick diseases.

Babesia is tough, since it doesn't respond to doxy. On the tick list they use imidocarb: Imidocarb Dipropionate Clears Persistent Babesia caballi Infection with Elimination of Transmission Potential

I will hope that it is something that is doxy responsive.
