I took my 4.5 month old pup out for his walk and regular run in the local tennis court. It is snowy and when he slid and slipped a little i realize ice was underneath.
I stopped and slowed down his excercise and I regret taking him there all together ![]() I kept an eye on him and he was not limping or anything. He walked back fine but as soon as we got home he went down sooner than usual and was resting and tried getting up a couple times and I can tell he is hurt or soar. I feel so awful and stupid. He cries a little when he stretches and cries when he tries to get up. When he is up you can see his hind leg (right) seems hurt. He likes to roll on his back and relax but he cries a little then too and cant roll over. We've been home for an hour now. Is there anything I can do for him or just let him rest or take him to the vet to get checked out???? Thanks

He probably pulled something and now that he has rested for a bit it's stiffening up. I would call your vet and find out how much aspirin to give for his weight. I would say if it's not significantly better by tomorrow, or continues to get worse, to take him in.

I second that completely. Let him get some rest and maybe a baby aspirin and go from there.

Ok...thank u
The vet/reception said she couldn't recommend anything other than allow him to rest or bring him in. So I can give aspirin to a dog? I was wondering. But she won't advise me of how much or what to give him... |

And by the way, you are not awful and stupid. Things happen sometimes. Just remember to watch out for ice from now on.
I think we've all had experiences where something like that has happened, it's just one of 'those things'. Dont beat yourself up over this.

I don't care to give aspirin to dogs as it can irritate their stomach.
If you do, you can use google to find the dosage, it's just not something I'd recommend (and if your vet won't, either, what's that tell you?)

I just feel bad...he usually does the pant leg/boot nipping and this time on the way back its like as if he was mad at me for having him run and hurt himself...he was doing it aggressively and biting really hard and growling? Or that sound like he is mad. Plus he is sitting in front of me looking at me...whining or making that sort of moaning sound like "this is ur fault"
