Default My girls hips, with pics.

No digital x-rays available on the island. Any thoughts, vet said they looked pretty good for a German Shepherd and she did apologize at the quality of them.

I'm no expert but I think the quality and positioning look really good actually. It looks like you snapped a digital pic while they were on the lightbox? Even so they are pretty clear. Nice job.

Yes, might have been some translation issues also. She was Portuguese, speaking to me in English.

Yes, I used my computer monitor as a lightbox and snapped the pics with my digital cam.

I think your dog will never have any problems because of her hips.

Are you sending the xrays off for evaluation? I think they'd pass--but in the first xray ball of the hip on the right of the image looks kind of funky. I don't see the same thing in the second image, though, so I'm not sure what to think of that.

Nevertheless--the overall formation is good. If there were any significant problems, xrays for a 2 year old GSD would show some calcification and other issues as a result of damage from too much laxity or malformation--and there's none of that.

I thought about it sending them off just so the OFA could have the sats, but she is BYB dog that is spayed (**** I am sure this is the first hip x-rays in her pedigree for 5 generations), most of it was for my information if I was going to have to start babying her hips. Vet said funky part on that hip was the way the x-ray developed, its a small vet office and they really can't afford the best equipment. I told her upfront I wasn't sending them off to be graded, if I was she would have taken more until we got a good image.

I want to do Immo's prelims and have them sent off to the OFA, he will be 6 months on the first, I was told to hold off till 10 months to have it done.
