Default Marble sized knot at the base of her tail.

We just noticed this recently, about two inches from the base of her tail on the under side we found a knot. It doesn't seem to bother her, but of course we are little worried about it.

Anyone seen anything like this?

We have appt Monday to have it checked out and going ahead having her hips/elbows x-rayed at the same time. Which I am more worried about.

Without being able to see or feel the lump, you'll
Probably have to leave it to the vet.

Do. You speak English or have a translator program?

doggiedad - that was utterly unnecessary. The question is understandable since the location of the OP is Portugal.

I vote for fluent English speaker - no on-line translator can make someone sound so natural.

Aack, stupid sidetrack about the language, how is this relevant?

Back to the important topic - is the lump actually on the tail, or close to the anal region? From what I understand, it is not "on top" along the spine?

Thank you for youre reply, you're right it is to Fluent for a translator.

As for the other ignorant remarks, well let's just say I apreciate the information most of the decent people here are willing to pass on.

I am in the USAF and stationed here, so I am from the US.

But the knot is underneath the tail, about two inches from the base. I am not sure how long she has had it, I mean its not like this is a common place for me pet her.

I had a dog that got two hard marble sized sebaceous adenomas. One was on the tail. They were much like you described. I had them removed. They are benign. Only your vet will know for sure after examining the growth.

Actually being on the tail, I would expect a cyst of some sort, but I always like to have them checked out for sure.

The doc gave us a anti-inflammatory at first to try and we are going to go back a week later if it doesn't improve.

Oh and Hips and elbows look ok. Unfortunately no digital x-rays machines on the island, I have the films, just need to figure out a good way to take pictures of them to post up. I would guess they would grade fair/good if I would send them off to the OFA. Not huge concern since she was fixed and will never be bred. Going to do the pups prelims there in a few months though.
