Default Mishka dxed with Low B12 and SIBO

Mishka will be one Jan. 30 and is between 65-67 lbs. She was just diagnosed with SIBO today due to chronic diarreah and is on Tylan and b12 injections.
Shes a happy girl, a bit hyper but doesn't seem too sick. ANYONE out there who also has a sibo pup please let me know what has worked for their pup. Thanks

I have an adult rescued GSD (in my avatar) who has SIBO. He takes Tylan (in a capsule every day) and has done remarkably well. The Tylan powder is very bitter and he would not take it when I tried hiding it in canned dog food or any goodies. Once I put it in the capsule and put the capsule in a "meatball" of canned food, there were no problems taking the Tylan.

There is also a Yahoo group for IB Dogs (IBDogs) that can be helpful with a wealth of information.

If I can help, please just ask.

Yep, Gunner had the same. He got a B12 injection and Tylan Powder for the SIBO. The Tylan worked great and fast. Just be sure to follow the vet instructions and dosage. The Tylan needs time to work, so even if she seems better, keep up with the Tylan as long as instructed. I think Gunner was on it for about 6 weeks (maybe 4 weeks, I don't remember exactly).
His follow appt showed his B12 was now normal.
He's had a few bouts of SIBO since the first time (he was about 8 months old or so) and the Tylan Powder takes care of it.

I've put it in peanut butter and then put it on some milkbones. He loves it.
And since he LOVES pill pockets, I filled the dosage in two of them and he scarfs them down. Either one works for me.

probiotics plus marine phytonutrients

when you put the probiotic in greek yogurt for example you amplify the effect because the protein in the yogurt will stimulate the immune system (positively)

I just wanted to mention maybe having her tested for EPI in the future. I hope she doesn't have this but the chronic diarrhea, SIBO and low B12 could be signs

Here is a great EPI group: Overview - EPI * Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency

I hope Mishka feels better real soon

Thankfully Mishka tested negative for EPI.
I do have her on primal defense probiotics and will
try a low residue diet.
