When she was about 9 months, noticed she had a scab on her elbow. I figured she might've just scratched herself. When I clip her nails, I always see the same scab. She is now 1 year old and I still see it. Attached to this post are pictures of it. It's not that big of an issue but the scab has just been there for too long and I'm starting to get worried if it's not a scar. It's definitely not a bug because you can see hair growing through it and the texture is of a scab.
Any of you dealt with something similar or any advice? I just want your opinion before I go to the vet's office. |

Actually my boy had the samething on his elbow-looked like your pictures. At the time he did not have any bedding in his crate because he would destroy it..I thought it was from laying down (pressure point). He since got a bed (no shredding
) back in his crate. It did completely go away.

It does look like a pressure point rub.
If your dog is laying on a hard surface repeatedly it will cause this. Depending on the dog, it can be caused by a crate with no pad, laying on cement or even laying on the deck. If your dog does lay on the same surface repeatedly (not in like an animal abuse way, but some dogs always go to the same place to rest LOL), you can try putting down a thin entry way rug in the spots she prefers and see if she will lay on them. This will place a small barrier in between the dog and the surface and can help the pressure point rubs to heal. |
