I've recently noticed that my GSD has developed a couple of small bald spots on his ears. Specifically near the outer edges of the ears. More on the left ear than on the right though.
Any ideas what could be the cause of this?

My boy had the samething last winter, went away completely, back again like clock work this winter. His ears are also completely clean, no smell, actually had them swabbed at our last check up a few weeks ago, nothing.
My husband works outside alot & his hands get dry & crack..he uses Gold Bond medicated lotion..starting putting this on my boys ears (outside only) and started massaging (it must feel really good because he lays there with his eyes closed & gives little grunts) it into his ears and they are actually alot better. |

Happens to my dog too. When the vet saw it he scraped them and checked for mange saying that could cause it. He doesn't have mange so not sure what causes it. Right now the fur has grown back but it happens every now and then.
