I want to hear about everybody's vet! Where did you find them, are they a big multi-doctor practice or a small private practice? City vet our country? How many vets did you go through before finding this one? What do you like or dislike? Do different pets go to different vets? Are you thinking of switching, or are you happy? Are their prices fair?

Rocky goes to a holistic vet in the city. There's only one doctor there and I think he's somewhat famous in holistic/homeopathic veterinary circles. He's expensive but he's done wonders with Rocky's arthritis and his kidney issues. He also is the only vet that Rocky has ever really been comfortable with.
Kopper goes to a small country vet's office with only one doctor. I like her A LOT. I was getting dissatisfied with my small city vet who wanted to take him in "the back" for every little thing and was constantly making snide remarks about him not being neutered yet. So when he hurt his foot I decided to try this country vet's office I'd been eyeing. The doctor was so unpretentious it took me a minute to figure out she was the doctor. Then, instead of taking him into "the back," she invited me to scrub up and help while she sedated him and removed his hanging dewclaw. I really appreciated this. She doesn't guilt-trip me about his not being neutered, respects my intelligence, and has reasonable rates.

I LOVE my vet(s)..My first vet's were my parents vets, hated them
Will never forget when my gsd as a kid, had a huge tumor on the side of his face, the vet was petrified of him, knocked him out, and basically did a chop job removing that tumor![]() When I moved out, I had Jake my first gsd out on my own, used to go to this foreign vet,,he was rather "weird" but I was young, didn't know better..Wellllll, after going to him for about 2 years, one time he decided to get a tad to friendly with me as in a physical way, I dumped him fast ![]() Started going to my now vets, which was gosh, back in 89 Back then it was a 2 person operation..The owner and my primary vet (woman)..They have always always been there for me and my animals no matter the time of day or nite, always giving me good price breaks because of my multiple animals and good care. Now they are a 4 person operation, very very busy, but it doesn't matter when I call, they have never ever refused to get me in right then..I still use my primary, but use the owner for more difficult surgeries/diagnostics. (they have no problem saying "i don't know this, lets let xx check it out) 2 weeks ago, on a Fri am, with me having to be at work at 10am,,I called because my aussie, Jynx, had a cyst on her face I had popped but looked nasty, she wasn't "right",,my primary wasn't there, they took me in asap, with a different female vet, (who've I used before sparingly),,she was great, the place was packed, she said I could 'assist' and I wouldn't have to leave her to get to work...So within 20 minutes I was in and out, (had to run home and change, lanced the cyst, and well I got covered ....Cost 65.00...Couldn't beat it..So yeppie, I LOVE my vets )) I also petsit for one of them

I feel we are blessed to have the vet we do. He goes above & beyond what any client could ask for. If your pet is in over night he goes back to the office around 10:00 pm to check on his patients and then he calls you letting you know how everything is going.
We live in a city of around 100k and we have around 7-8 veterinarian hospitals. When my girls both had knee surgery it cost a bit of money but I honestly felt our vet was under paid. |

As of today, my GSD goes to a small office prices are competitive with the other vets in our area. There are 2 vets there-I love the younger guy. Not just because he is good-looking (lol) but because he is wonderful with my dog. Also, I am always welcome to come back with my dog-as a matter of fact it's expected. I am not crazy about one of the receptionists.
My lab and my 2 cats go to a bigger office. I am not sure how many vets are there because I usually only deal with one. I like her-but what I don't like is that after a brief consultation with me they always take my dog or cat back without me-even if it's just for an ear cleaning. My lab goes along with them ok but my GSD doesn't like to so that is why he goes to a different vet. The receptionists at this office are awesome and one is a germanshepherdlova like me so we really hit it off. Their prices are ok-slightly higher. Oh-and the best part-you don't need an appointment. Unless it's for surgery they have office hours daily including Saturdays and it is on a walk-in basis. And the wait isn't to bad-they really move it there.

I LOVE my vet -- so much so that I drive an hour to get to his office since I moved. My dogs have gone to him for 27 years. he is inexpensive, respects my knowledge as a breeder, and does OFA xrays as well. There is a 24 hour clinic that is closer for emergencies, but they are expensive and take my dog away from me to examine.
