Default New here look for help

Please help, very concerned about our 1 1/2 yr GSD... A week ago she (we thought) hurt her leg running, came limping back...had her rest a few days to no avail, she continued to limp..put her on an aspirin for a few days..didn't help. Since then she is now having trouble walking, both hind legs are weak, she scrapes toes with one foot and drags the other side. Took her to the vet where they did xray's and found nothing to be wrong with her hips or spine.. they have put her on a steroids and antibiotic, that was yesterday afternoon. Today she seems to be getting worse, she now shows signs of walking with her back end sideways occasionally and dragging her feet. Help me please give me some ideas.. Thank you.

Did the vet run blood work? This is not a strong area of knowledge for me....I apologize for not having any answers. I am sure some more knowledgable people will be able to chime in. Much luck and I am sorry to have you join under such a circumstance.

This could be a tick diease, even something like Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever.

It could also be a back/spinal problem.

Good luck...let us know when you get the results. There are a lot of very knowledgable people on this board (not me) who are very helpful with results. I would make sure to ask for tick tests as LisaT recommended...she could probably tell you exactly what to ask for. A lot of vets won't automatically run that. Best of luck.

Have the vet run tests for fungal infections. Just a thought after what happened to Gunner's sister. The symptoms included losing her balance and limping.
