My Zack, 5yo male, suddenly developed cataracts. They appeared within weeks. Ophthalmologist will do testing tomorrow to look at retina & see if he is a candidate for surgery. He has almost no sight in one eye & about 50% in the other. Apparently if there is inflammation in the eye, we can't do surgery & he might go blind.
I'm beside myself. This poor guy came up with allergies at 8 weeks old and we've done everything, literally. He's on home cooked food, gets shots, baths & still itches like crazy sometimes. Now this. I wonder if there is a connection? He is the sweetest, silliest guy who lives to play ball. Cataract surgery involved 2-4 weeks of complete rest, no ball playing, no walks, etc. Oh, and the cone. Seriously may need to put him on sedatives. Guess I just needed to talk to some people who understand. I'm absolutely beside myself. Can't believe such a sweet boy has to undergo so much suffering. There's that "f" word - it's not "fair."
