I just have to post this! I put up a post on 12/18/11 about my dog's bad allergies, mainly affecting his ears. It was suggested that I try Zymox with hydrocortisone. After researching this product and reading the reviews, I was so excited to try it. I have been using it for 3 days only and my dog's ears are already much better! I have battled his itchy, red and bleeding ears for years (since he was a pup) and I feel like I might finally have found something that is working for him! This poor guy has had surgeries on both ears to drain hematomas that were caused from his unrelenting scratching and he has been allergy tested and on steroids more than once to try and get this under control. I am keeping my fingers crossed that this is finally the treatment we've been searching for. Just wanted to pass that along to anyone who has been in my shoes searching for a product that works!! Zymox is expensive. I paid close to $30.00 for a 4 oz. bottle but it is sooooo worth it!

I have had the same issues with Falon. I have been meaning to try Zymox. Thanks for posting this as you reminded me to give it a try. Hoping I have the same results as you.

I use it too, Onyx has chronic ear issues. It is so far the best of everything we've tried, and I do know that vets prescribe it(but charge double what entirelypets.com does)
The only problem I've found is the ears clear up for awhile, and due to allergies another infection sets in. So frustrating. Onyx has had hematoma's too. I feel so bad for these dogs that have allergies. Last edited by onyx'girl; 12-26-2011 at 09:50 PM. |

I have a 6 month old puppy who has had red, itchy ears since I got him. I've had him on 5 different dog food (grain free, chicken free, beef free etc) to try and get it under control - he would scratch and cry many times a day. The vet gave him TrizChlor but it didn't seem to improve his ears.
I was away for a week and when I returned he was actually carrying his head off to one side and his ears had gotten much worse, particularly his left ear. I had read on this forum about Zymox so I bought some - wow - within a day there was obvious relief and within 10 days his ears look better than I've ever seen them and there is no itching! I am thrilled!! Will see what happens now that I've stopped the treatment but I would definitely recommend it to anyone who is having ongoing issues like I was having. |

I've been using Zymox for years and have always had excellent results with it.
Don't know if you're interested, but I always buy the small bottle which seems to last a long time and is a lot cheaper than the 4oz bottle ... just checked and a small bottle is $13.39 on Amazon (from Entirely Pets) w/free shipping. But of course it's not economical if you use a lot of it.

Gonna add another "works great" post to this thread. My 8 y/o had chronic ear infections in her younger years and always prescribed it. Now I use it when I see the first symptoms of ear issues and it clears them right up. I don't consider the price of the meds to be expensive in comparison to what I kept having to do with the vet who wouldn't prescribe meds without seeing the dog and doing a full exam, swab, etc, even though it was the same issue over the over. they claimed zymox was a "prescription" medication and therefore, couldn't "legally" sell it without an exam and swab. BS!
