Nimai, GSD, neutered one year old male has extremely fast panting after even a little exercise. As you may know he is still recovering from his almost fatal accident, but this fast panting was before as well. It is so fast I cannot immitate it. It is not really hot now in Hawaii. Is this normal?

I have no idea, but next time that you go to your vet you might bring it up to him. Hope that your boy keeps improving from the accident.

I'm not really sure if this is normal but my Gsd does this as well. For example a walk to the mail box and back with very little play and she will excessively pant for about a half hour. I just assumed it was normal and my vet said it was nothing to worry about.

As mentioned, panting can be a sign of pain, and that also includes digestive pain, joint pain from pano or tick disease, etc.. My boy here will pant if his neck is out of adjustment and off to the chiro we go.
I guess maybe even gas from indigestion could cause this, if the diet is not right. It can also be a sign of infection, infection from SIBO, tick disease, e. Coli uti, etc. It can also be a sign of heart issues. I suspect a dog with other serious issues would pant too. Or...often they find absolutely nothing wrong with the dog.
