My name is Kat and I am a moderator on the IMOM board. Jean knows me and can vouch for me. We have a case in our Happy Endings thread that maybe some experienced GSD people might have some knowledge of. Foru is only a puppy and he is currently at Cornell. He is having some health issues and I thought maybe y'all could check his thread out. Dawn (Foru's mom) needs all the encouragement and support she can get. We are not fundraising but this little pup has captured my heart from afar. I know Christmas is just a few days from now but I thought maybe y'all could offer her some support and just maybe, someone on this forum might have heard of this health issue happening in other GSD's. He was doing so well and he is one sick little pup right now.

Thank you and I hope y'all have a Merry Christmas!

Kat

I just read the last page of Forusmom's thread and am glad he's doing better. I have no idea what his problem was, hopefully someone can add something constructive to say.

He's gotten worse again I also had to recheck it because it seemed like he was okay - I am going to PM UConnGSD - I think it is her dog with all the kidney issues? But have no idea if that is related to anything this puppy has going on.

I have no idea what's going on. UConnGSD's Wolfie had an e-coli infection when he was a puppy that led to chronic renal failure. This, however, sounds like something else entirely.

I hope this little guy pulls through...

He was doing so well and it seemed like he crashed really quick and from what it being posted, the doctors can't figure out exactly what is going on. Plus the fact that they are short staffed because of the holidays isn't helping either but I sure hope this little guy pulls through. Foru's mom's love for her pup shines through each post she makes and even tho I don't know this pup personally, my heart is breaking for her and the best I can do for her is offer support and prayers. Someone on the IMOM board, whom I think is a vet tech or was one, thought maybe a fungal infection of some sort but we are not vets and don't know if that is the case. I would think the doctors at Cornell would rule that out. They seem to think it's not a genetic problem so I would think that's a good thing. I just hope Foru improves, especially because we are getting close to Christmas.

This morning's update is a little better. Foru ate the equivalent of one jar of baby food. He still has a fever but it came down a bit. His urine output is good. They are running another blood panel to see where he is at today. Even if it's baby steps, he showed a little improvement. Hopefully the Cornell doctors will get a handle on what is going on with this pup and he will take bigger steps towards improving. Prayers, positive thought, healing energy, white light...anything to help Foru get past this is much appreciated.

Thank you.

Foru is continuing to improve but he is still at Cornell. They plan on removing the catheter on Dec. 26th to see how he does. His urethra is very irritated though. The doctors at Cornell cannot find any medical reason for his problem. My personal thoughts are it's a combo of the infection, which is being successfully treated now, and the irritation from being catherized.

Please, please send all the prayers and/or positive energy you can to this pup. We all love this pup at IMOM and want to see a happy ending.

Thanks!

Update: They removed his catheter this morning. Foru is in great spirits. If there are no problems, we will have another update this evening. We are all praying/sending out positive thoughts that there will not be any phone calls from Cornell until this evening.

The doctors cannot find any medical reason for Foru's problem so we are really hoping for a good update this time.

Please keep Foru in your thoughts.

Thanks!
