Mast cell tumor

For those of you who have experience with this type of tumor, what did your dog's lump look like?
Google just says it can take many forms. We have an app't tomorrow for a small white nodule on Lilly's tail and I am worrying myself silly.
Thank you.

Mary
I got a dog for my husband. It was a good trade.

The couple I've seen on the boards, external skin lumps, were kinda angry looking - red. Indy's was under the skin, so you could just feel the lump. The tail would be an odd spot for a first tumor, so I'm just hoping that it's a funny nodule. Max gets lots of benign funny nodules.

The good news is that the vet can needle it tomorrow if there is any suspicion, and you'll know.

Let us know how it goes.

I'm pretty sure you are not going to need these links, but in case anyone else reading needs them, these might be helpful: Cancer - GermanShepherdHome.net

Thanks Lis. I had a dog with it years ago but I forgot what it looked like. I just new it was different.
Lilly is a very lumpy dog so I'm hoping it's just another one of her weird skin things.

Thanks for the encouragement.

"new"= "knew". Wow. I can't type.

Vet aspirated it. No mast cells! She thinks it's some sort of cyst so we'll just watch it for changes.
Thanks for the help.

Yippee, great news I'm VERY happy to hear it!

I had a hunch it wasn't, but you never know, and *always* better to be cautious about these things - they can sneak up on you!
