Default Toenail in Tail - anyone else?

I took Boo to the vet yesterday because she had a strange appendage seemingly growing out of her tail. The vet was flabbergasted, it was actually a toenail growing out of her tail! Has this happened to anyone else? The vet was able to remove it, but will it grow back?

I have never heard of this. Was the vet 100% sure it was a nail and not some other type of growth?

I have heard of congenital anomalies in humans where tumors are found with hair teeth bone in them.It is thought to be remains of undeveloped twin.Does BOO have any other lumps or bumps anywhere?

Ewww creepy! You should have made pictures. Definitely interesting.

My sister actually had a growth removed from an ovary when she was in her twenties. Her doctors told her it actually had teeth in it??? I thought that so weird too. The strangest stuff is possible.

Glad I entertained, sorry I creeped some out. Although I didn't take photos, the nail now sits in a jar in my house. Boo actually gained 10+ pounds since her last check-up (she's 4 years old) and the vet tech joked that she might be growing another dog inside of her!
