Default Cyclosporin cheap source? Atopica or Neoral?

My 9yr old GSD, has perianal fistuals... very severe. He is being prescribed 400mg of Neoral... 4 100mg capsules per day.

Two forms of Cyclosporin are available ... Atopica or Neoral.

We're looking at close to $500 per month for this through online sources. petmeds, people pharmacies, Canada, etc.

Does anyone have any sources for less expensive meds?

Thanks,

Karl

HOLY COW!!! That's a heafty bill. Shucks, I had a hard time affording Mac's 125mg of Atopica a day. Have you joined a support group - members there may be able to give you more information about getting good price deals.

Also, have you called pharmacies like Walgreens, Walmart, Sam's Club, etc. to see what their prices are for the cyclosporin?

This is where I used to buy Mac's Atopica:

I also second joining the PF email group, they may also suggest some cheaper sources for atopica..

400mgs per day is alotta atopica, hopefully your vet also mentioned doing a trough test to determine drug level ? Mine when on atopica wasn't on that high a dose, but then again his wasn't a severe case either.. Good luck with your boy

Definately join the email group

Have you looked at compounding pharmacies? I get Max's eye meds through one at about half the cost that my vet could get. For Max's antifungal which would have been $300 for the one prescription, they charged me $70 for the compounded version. There might be some question about compounded versus name brand, but maybe not.

The place that I have gone through is Meds for Vets: 866-MED-4VET. Someone on this board referred me to them. Service has been great.

Sean saw the specialist today and I just found out Atopica is going up in price by approx. $5.00 for fifteen 100 mg capsules.
