Default Cassie 1 year - with us.

We got Cass 1 year ago today. I also remember that it was in the 70's last year and it's only 32 today. (with a wind chill of 18)
She's been a great companion for all of us and her and Gunnar get along like lifelong buddies.
We got her because, after we lost Ruger to his seizure disorder, Gunnar was misereable. Wouldn't eat, didn't want to work or go to park or anything. He was miserabe.
Cassie's owners had to re-home both her and her partner, a male GSD, because they were moving to the Philippenes and didn't want to take the dogs with them. According to her foster mom, Cass had been miserable as well, missing her partner.
It took her and Gunnar several days to adjust to each other, but one morning, it was like a switch had been flipped and they were off.

I've posted before about having been contacted by her former owners, via e-mail (they're still out of the US) wanting to see her again if they come back to the States to visit. Received an eye opening e-mail. I've stopped replying to their e-mails since the woman told me that none of the "training" worked to stop her submissive peeing and counter surfing. Of course, her solution was to yank harder on the choke chain and yell louder at the dog. (Gee, maybe that's what caused the peeing............but I'm no expert )
We've worked hard on her being so soft, especially now that I have some idea what I think was part of the cause. I think she'd be a great candidate for tracking or detection work and I know she isn't really big on bite work/apprehension.

Cass is a GSD/Mal mix and has the "crazy drive" to prove it.......lol.
She'll be 3 in November. I honestly think that she would keep working, chasing a ball/squirrel/frisbee or whatever was moving until her heart exploded in her chest. I guess she has an "off" switch, but you have to exhaust her in order to get it to work. That's one of the issues we've been concentrating on. I can't believe how much just being around a calmer, mellow "who cares" dog like Gunnar has done for her.
Even though she's not perfect (I know none of them are) I wouldn't trade her at this point for Rin-Tin-Tin or a million bucks.

Here's a picture of our girl. For some reason, we cannot get a good pic of her with ears all the way up. It's like she knows.

good job on the re-training. you don't want to be
in contact with the old owners because you disagree
with their training mehtods stemming from that e-mail.
is that really the reason you don't want to them to see
the dog they once owned???

Cass is a very pretty girl, it sounds like you both are lucky to have found each other.

I don't know what "other" reason it would be. I'm not worried about them wanting the dog back because that's not going to happen.
And yes, I don't like people that, in my opinion, abuse their dogs. I certainly have nothing to hide.
I don't know if you're trying to insinuate something or if I'm reading this wrong. I'm going to assume it's me.
