Default Can Premium Members change their username?

Can Premium Members change their username (once perhaps)? I might end up getting a female puppy and therefore a different name (than my current username). If so I'd like to change my username in near future,

We don't allow name changes except for security reasons (e.g. someone signs up with a real name and then thinks better of it).

No. Duplicate accounts are not allowed and opening a second one is grounds for banning.

The reasons for no name changes or new accounts is that people get to know one another by their screen names and thus changing names causes confusion and makes it hard to keep track of who is who and their history.

If you want to recognize you're new puppy then the best way is to put him/her in your signature.

So what? We should go back and ban someone for something done months ago because we don't go around looking for people to break the rules and thus didn't catch it?

Should you?

It was reported at the time, and nothing was done about it.
So why should some people have two usernames, and others be threatened to be banned for it?

I know I never got a notification on this, but then the notifications don't always work and sometimes get blocked by email spam filters so if people see a rule violation and nothing is done about it in a reasonable amount of time then PMing an Admin is the best way to make sure we know about it. In that particular case it's pretty moot as the person has more posts under the new one than the old one so there is nothing to be done about it at this point.

Bottom line is that it is against the rules. It is even stated in the rules that all users agree to. Duplicate accounts are not allowed. Some people get away with speeding, others get caught. In the grand scheme of things it probably isn't a big deal, but it is against the rules nonetheless and certainly when someone asks about it they are going to be told just that.

So, if enough time passes, and enough posts are accumulated, then the rule does not apply anymore.
As for speeding... if you speed and crash into someone and are able to drive away and the police don't track you down 'till later, you can get away with it?

I was told it is easier to get forgiveness than to get permission
