Default How rough should I let puppy play?

I was wondering how rough should I let my now nearly 18 week old GSD play with my 2 1/2 year old French Bulldog bitch? Should I just let them get on with it and intervene if she seems in distress or stop it before it gets that far, as bigger he will be getting, advice appreciated, thanks.

I'm always of the opinion that they will sort themselves out, and only intervene if it gets snarly and obviously agressive as opposed to playing. Thats how I have always worked previously.
