Mentally or physically?

Personally I saw a huge improvement in both when Delgado turned 2, mentally he still has puppy brain moments but they're becoming fewer and fewer

When would you stop calling him a puppy and start saying he is a dog?
That's what I mean, like calling someone a boy then start calling him a man

Ah, well Delgado's main nickname is Puppy so I'll never ever stop calling him that lol

Again, personally around one year I stop referring to them as puppies and call them dogs. But it really doesn't matter - in English terms like boy/girl or baby boy/baby girl, kiddo or other types of those nicknames are still used regardless of age. It's mainly done in jest or affection so it's really not unusual or looked down on

I start calling them a dog at 2 years of age.

I definitely noticed a difference in Sinister when he turned 2 years old, he was finally responsible enough to be free of his cage while I was not home. But he didn't really mature into a "real dog lol" until he was 4 years old. He became more protective and watchful of his yard and home.

Draven is a silly little idiot. He'll be 14 months old in 2 weeks and he's just as crazy as ever, I don't think he will be mature or responsible enough at 2 years old to be free of his crate permanently. He also thinks that every stranger that approaches the yard or house is a friend and he greets them very happily.

Yeah, I tend to still consider them puppies until they are 2. Then they are still young dogs.

Some breeds do mature quicker, and I might consider them dogs by 12-18 months.
