Final color

At 6 months, is it safe to assume that my female GSD already has her permanent coat color?

I think they say 9 months. My girl is 7 months now and her black seems to be turning brown so I don't think she is done changing quite yet. But I am not 100% sure.

Nope. Depending on what base she is (i.e. bi-color, black and tan, sable), it's very likely she'll continue to change color for a few years. My male changed color until he was two (he's a black and red patterned sable). My female (the one in my avatar) is black and tan technically, but hasn't changed color at all since about 4 months. Solid blacks don't change, and bi-colors really don't either.

Right now it appears she will be a blanket back but since I have a long time to wait she may change. She hasn't changed much since I got her in March.

No - all will change some in color as they age. Some more than others - sables for example

What color is your dog ?

It depends....bi-colors are the same, hardly change at all. Blankets too, by 6 months are what they will be as adult. My sable lightens in winter months due to the thicker tan undercoat.

I think she will lose some black as she ages - her pigment is good though
