age of my puppy

Ok when we got my puppy we were told she was 7 weeks with 2 sets of shots and due for her third set two weeks from when we got her. No please correct me if i am wrong but dont vets give the frist set at 6-8 weeks and then 2 weeks after that the second. And so on. Now going off of that their was no way my puppy was u weeks old. Right now of she was 7 weeks when we got her she ould be 10 weeks old. Im questioning the age we were told because she is still cutting a few baby teeth. Her ears stamd up all the way though. What are your opinions?

whoa.

8-12-16 weeks are traditional. New Dr. Dodds guidelines are 9-10 and 14 weeks.

Sounds like your girl is going to have to have extra shots.

My pup got his first at 6 weeks, second 10 weeks, and will get his third at 14 weeks. The vet should be able to tell age by looking at his teeth. Cute pup though. Here is mine at 10 weeks if you want to compare.

Uhm, well, uh, it depends on who is giving the shots. Some breeders give their own shots.

There was this rescue that had a bunch of dogs at a PetsMart. One of them was a tiny puppy about 4 weeks old. I was ticked. They were passing this puppy around to potential adopters in the busy pet store. And these people were petting all the dogs, and carrying this baby around in the store.

I said to the owner/rescuer "Uh, how can you be sure that the puppy is safe, won't get sick?" Her response was that the puppy was vaccinated. So I asked, how can you be sure the puppy wasn't under its dam's immunity at the time of vaccination? her response was that she knew the vaccines were good as she gave them herself.

Some things just aren't worth arguing about. The lady was totally wrong of course, the pup was in no way certain of being protected from things it could be vaccinated against, and that does not consider the things there are no vaccinations for.

The point is, some breeders/rescues give their own shots and are not all that knowledgeable.

Awe:( a 4 week up at the pet store! Really? The first question is why was it already away from the mom and needed up there? And what about its siblings? Poor little guy. Hopefully they find him a good loving home.
