Question Old Dog with New GSD

I used the search button but didn't find anything specific, so here's this. I've got a 2.5 month old GSD (Maverick) and a 14 year old Lhasa Apso (Sam). Sam is pretty much unable to hang with the family cause Maverick is jumping all over him and wanting to play. Now Sam has been correcting, but he's lost the majority of his teeth and Maverick is only getting bigger.

Does anybody have an idea how I can get these two into the same room and have it be peaceful and quiet?

Thanks in advance!

I hope you get some responses as mine won't be comforting. I have a 14 year old shih tzu that isn't able to be out with my pup (just turned a year old), not because of the rambunctiousness of the pup so much as my old dog's inability to accept the pup into the household. Even now, after over 10 months, my old dog still growls, snarls and carries on the whole time my pup is even in sight. He won't hush (he's also partially deaf and has cataracts) and eventually I get fed up with the noise and the old dog is relegated back to my bedroom. I feel badly, but he .. just .. won't .. hush. Even if the pup is babygated away from him, he'll come to the gate so he can bark at him.

Well I'm not quite in that boat. Sam accepts our newest member however does not like all the jumping, tail biting and general in his face type behavior. If we keep Sam on the couch Maverick is still too small to get up their but that's not gonna last very long...
