On a leash ALL day?

Konig, 14 weeks, is on a 4ft leash all day. Literally, all day. 24/7. Doesn't really chew on it anymore, it just.. drags on the floor behind him. Hes about as comfortable with it as his collar. Just makes it easier to stop him when hes running for something he shouldn't or about to knock something over... or just to take him out to potty. Anything wrong with this, potential future drawbacks I should worry about?

If you are in the room to watch him, it's a good training method.

If you are NOT around, it can get stuck and injure him.

If you are 'training' you need to be there, otherwise it's just a useless aid that may cause harm.

In the meantime, you should be TRAINING so he won't have to have the leash and will learn to listen and pay attention because he's learned to be attentive to your voice and it's commands.

Dog classes? That's the route I go and as the weeks go by things get better in the home too.

Yes that's what I do as well. I take it off at night of course or when he is crated. I like the fact that I can give him a tug to redirect or stop him without using my hands. And I can stop him in his tracks if need be without grabbing his neck. My guy is 18 weeks and has had his long lead since 8 weeks. He knows no different.

I kept Stormie on a 5 foot leash most of the time when she was younger. It made it easier to keep her out of trouble. It also made bathroom breaks in the front yard easier. She used to pick up the end and prance it around like she was taking herself for a walk, lol. As her recall has improved, I have stopped using the lead that way. I haven't noticed any problems, but she is still young at 5 months. :-)
