Default Never floppy?

One of the things I loved about GSDs is that they have floppy ears.. then as they grow, the ears start trying to stand on their own and sometimes one does, sometimes both do, sometimes they both meet in the middle to make a tipi.. but my pups ears were never floppy. Even as big as they are, they never flopped to the side.. or to the middle.. or one down, one up. They were both up. There may have been one or two instances where it kinda made a tipi but they'd go right back into right up. I've even had someone ask me if I taped his ears and I was like ".. what are you talking about?" (i didn't know about taping at the time)

But here's him at 8 weeks.. very small, pointy ears.

and here's him now.. almost 15 weeks. very big, upright ears.

I was really hoping they'd flop, but I don't think they will. How come they never went floppy? :| Should I be glad they were never floppy? Haha.

Good genetics

This is the floppiest Delgado's ears ever went. I admit I was really hoping to see a tiny bit of floppiness but alas it was not to be...

Two weeks later

Awe, he's so cute!

But yeah, that's about as floppy as my pups would be. There were only a couple times where I saw his ears get kind of lazy.. and I was super excited to snap a photo of it. After that second time though, I never saw them [his ears] get tired (tired as in.. floppy. haha)

I personally love the "flying nun" stage best

I admit I messed with his ears (not roughly of course) all the time, they were too adorable to resist and I got him used to cleaning them often at my vets suggestion and it never hurt how strong they were

Thick strong ears. Otto had one up the day he came home at 8 weeks.

We had I think it was 10 days of random up and down before they were both up and never went back down, not even when he teethed. As an adult, his ears are like soft fuzzy leather

My boys ears came up shortly after he came home at 12 weeks. They have not yet gone back down and he is now 19 weeks.

Someday he will grow into them.

Jaxxs ears were never floppy either. I guess it's good, but I do feel like I missed out on something. But, id rather have them ALWAYS up than NEVER up (but that would be cute, too!)

Mystique's ears were both up when she came home at 7.5 weeks old.

Then about a week later, one flopped.

Later that day, the other ear followed suit.

Both ears stood back up a couple weeks later.

Ears up ever since!

Stormie only had floppy tips on her ears when I picked her up at almost 8 weeks. A week later, both ears were up with one slightly turned in. It straightened up in a couple of days. Then we had a couple days of one up and one to the side. And the ears were back up and have been ever since. Stormie does lay her ears back often, though. She is 20 weeks today and has gotten about half of her adult teeth now. I am glad that I don't have to worry about whether her ears will come up or not. However, the flip flop ear stages are super cute!
