Hooray for health insurance

At my first vet visit with DDog, the vet advised me to get the most extensive health plan because of is breed, for at least the first year.
Pup was perfectly healthy at that time. I decided to take his advice and surely he (puppy) developed Pano later on, which is now covered; X rays and meds.
I can recommend it to all new puppy owners. Get the insurance as soon as you have your pup so you don't have to deal with "pre-existing conditions" that aren't covered. Also when you sign up there is a waiting period during which your puppy can get sick or develop something that will then be pre-exisiting. It's tricky but for us it worked very well and it is a comforting idea that he is covered.

After expensive past experiences I purchased mine for my present dog when he was Dix weeks old. When I picked Jim up at 9 weeks the waiting period was over. Fortunately I haven't had to use it yet.

Same here. Petplan insured Nikki at six weeks old and the waiting period was over once she got here :)

Some people say it isn't worth it, to me it is 100% worth it. My last dog cost over $10,000 in vet bills and so far Petplan has already paid for itself.

So true! I just saw this story yesterday and I can't get this dog out of my mind. Lately I have seen way to many EPI dogs get dumped at shelters because owners can't afford the treatment. I can't imagine how much "Jessie" suffered until now :(
