Default Naming?

If we were talking horses, I wouldn't have to ask, but want to do the proper way with Bella.

I don't see a lot of 'method' to the AKC registered name. Can someone give me tips? I realize I can out whatever I please, but want it to be politically correct. Bella will have limited AKC papers as I am not interested in breeding.

In horses, at least quarter horses, we generally put some lineage name or similarity in the registered name. Same rules apply to GSD/AKC papers?

Bella's sire/dam: Angelic's King of Asgaard (Odin) and Viernheimi Evian (Ellie)

Maybe it's a dumb question ?

Thanks!

Does the breeder have a kennel name? If so, they may require you to use that as part of your pup's name. Does the breeder name litters alphabetically (common in Europe, and all pups have the same first letter, like "Kennel Name A___" or "A___ von Kennel Name"), or have a theme for the names (songs, movies, etc.)? Other than that, you just have to follow the AKC rules concerning names. Naming of Dogs

Check with your breeder to see if they have any requirements. Usually there will either be a letter associated with the litter and all the registered names of the puppies have to start with that letter, or sometimes there's a litter theme instead.

my guy came from his breeders 'N' litter and she wanted me to come up with a name that started with that but I told her quickly that I was going to name him Tiger. Then she advised I name him Panzer so don't take the litter letter too seriously. name him something you'll enjoy

Thanks all! I will check those questions/suggestions out. I was given no requirements, but will ask to be sure!
