In the dark with my new puppy
Hi, we've recently brought home our first puppy (Stella) @ 9 weeks old. I already feel like she is one of my children and like my first child I have very little idea on what I'm doing. My question is can I give her bones (ham bones) from the pet store yet. My concern would be choking or bone splinters. Also is there such a thing as starting to young to teach her commands?

Congrats on your new puppy!
There are many threads in the puppy forums on pretty much every subject.
I would not give her bones unless they are fresh. Never give smoked or dried bones as they can splinter. Beef knucklebones from a butcher or meat processor are recommended, give them under supervision and refridgerate them between chew sessions so they don't dry out.
You can begin short training sessions now, keep it all fun and short & sweet. Focus and recalls are most important...many threads on training too.

New puppy
Congrats on the new puppy! Puppies digestive systems are super sensitive, so go slow with whatever bones you decide on. There's only 1 thing I will recommend about teaching a puppy commands is: make all training fun and happy , no matter what you teach. :). Bob

I agree with Jane, only fresh raw bones and nothing smoked. I freeze mine before so that they last longer, they're a great treat :)
