Whatever toy is in your hands instead of laying on the floor.

This! My 7-month-old female will play with this ALL DAY if allowed to. And yet, they are surprisingly durable. We've only gone through three of these in the past four months. The nice thing about them is they double as a tug toy...just watch those fingers!

Hyperactive kids lol! If your referring to "down time" toys, something they can chew on, my male likes his JW bone or JW crinkle ball (?), my girls liked the jolly ball, Tuke would lay there and do CPR on that thing for a while.

The Bumi is Revy's second favorite toy at the moment, and very durable. We got her a Tricky Treat Ball from OmegaPaw and she will play with that for a good half hour at least.

When I first got Arya, she had no interest in toys. Only me. So I started leaving them out all over the place, encouraging play with my other dog, etc.

And... now that she's started playing with them, I have one wubba toy I will put in her crate with her (she's obsessed with that thing), and I will give stuffed hooves if I'm going to be gone a while during the day when she needs to be crated, otherwise, toys are for me playing with her only. Which makes them even more exciting, now that she understands the concept of them.

But yeah, for alone time chews, I like using bones, hooves, or antlers... not toys. Or... if desperate, I will go for a kong or similar.
