14.5 week old Rebell meets adult cat
We just rescued a 5 year old 20 lb. Maine Coon cat, very cool cat but is a little shy around my 14 1/2 week old male GSD no attacks or anything just cat runs when he sees him, any suggestions?
Don't force it. Feed them in the same room, but opposite ends and the cat elevated. Allow the cat to get up high and safe, and play with the puppy in the same room, but the opposite end, and if the cat leaves, LET HIM.
Don't drag either animal in with each other, and build up the cat's confidence with plenty of elevated places, preferably he will be able to travel around the entire room without ever touching the floor, but multiple elevated escape places are OK.
Teach your puppy to be calm whenever the cat is around. If the cat moves, he should be sitting or laying. Barking or excitement is unacceptable and he should immediately be the one removed from the room, and once calm again can come back in.
And in the end, if they are never bosom buddies, that is absolutely fine. :)

My cat did the same thing. I just let him be and he came around on his own. Took about a week for him to get comfortable.
