Definitely depends where you live. When I got my pup I called my vet and asked how many parvo cases he's had and he said 1 in the past year so I walked my boy around the block from the get go. If your neighborhood has a bunch of loose dogs running around then I'd worried. If you live in a nice neighborhood where it seems like everyone takes care of their pets then not much to worry about.

you don't know where the people go and you don't know
where the people take their dogs and you don't know
the health of the dogs that they encounter with their
dogs.

Put him in a cart and put a pee liner in the bottom of the cart! Besides it looks cute!

It's all new to me also, I kinda thought start of shots and they're good to go! I got lucky three times. but now I know! I won't take chances myself.

Two weeks after the last shot seems to be pretty consistently the advice given. Any pictures yet?Is this the GSD/Akita?

I did bring him with me. I carried him in the store and on the way home we looked for an out of the way spot where I pulled over and let him pee. He did great except for some car sickness. Poor little guy.

Yes this is the rescue I got. He looks more GSD than anything. I don't know if there is Akita in there or not. Look at those ears.

My mistake he looks like a GSD to me also. You posted some pics of GSD/Akita mixes. I thought he was one of those.

I'd have used a shopping cart! That looks like a lot of puppy to carry around!

He is one of those. Just not sure the Akita was daddy to all of them. Hard to tell with a stray/rescue situation.

16.5lbs a week ago. So not quite as big as he looks.

Thanks.

Haha already there. Buddy is 92 lbs and I'm keeping him lean because of his arthritis. Tasha was at the vet today. She is 92#. I didn't realize that she was that big. I was guessing about 80. My puppy looks pretty small compared to both of them. LOL
