When should I get my bitch spayed

I have heard a lot of conflicting advice about this. She coming up to six months now so it could start anytime, do we leave her have one season, and risk dirty dawgs hanging round (the thought petrifies me and she will be traumatized !) or can we get her done without having a season, but we have been told this leads to bad attitude, bad coat and problems with her bones. Help guys! I'm confused.

Do a search for spaying in the search bar. There are a lot of really good threads here on this topic already :) Everyone has a different opinion on it you'll find.

What is her temperament like so far.

I've had my female (non gs) through 5-6 heats and it has been pretty fine. She is the kinda dog that would defend her self harshly and male dogs stay away from her a lot even when in heat. She just has to look at them and put up her dorsel fin and they keep their distance.

Temperament wise I found my female changed for the better after each heat. Maybe it is a coincidence or just a stage. 9 months 15 months 21 months where her first 3 cycles with pseudo/semi heat at 7 months. After 2nd heat was most major change for the better.

Mad lab, she is a bit nervous of other dogs when they are full on. She would not retaliate and I think it would distress her. She is starting to bark a bit now but is very submissive. Thanks for the advice though.

Vets has advised ( as there is new research ) to wait until she has at least one season , or maybe two. So we will 👍
