Odin's with me at work today
I know that it's good for him to shake up the "routine" he's developed in the past week. But I also know how frustrated he is going to be.
The kids go back to school next week and I'm bringing him with me to work unless it gets super cold. He'll be crated in the van and I'll go out and play with him, work on training and go for at least 3 walks during the day on my breaks. But it makes me sort of sad for him.
I'm bringing him with me for the next 2 weeks until he's chipped and has his checkup with the vet. I brought the long line to start working with that, I figure I can throw his ball and he can retrieve and I don't have to worry about him getting loose that way.
I know crating is good, safe and healthy, but I feel sad that he's got to be in his crate all day...and I foresee a very vigorous workout with him this evening!
Excellent first long line work!!!! :)
I'm pleased with him! He was a bit reactive to all the traffic around the office and we have pretty high winds today and the truss plant next door has a bunch of lumber covered in plastic that's flapping, so he had to deal with a lot of new sounds and motion today...
But we practiced long line (50 feet) ball chasing and he did GREAT! He was sleeping when I opened the van hatch so he's doing great. A very nice 15-20 minutes of galloping around chasing the ball and exploring around my office!
Haha, I do the same thing. I have two 1 year olds at home that were crate trained and did great. We just got a pup and I didnt think it was fair that he was home in a crate while the girls were able to run around. (They have the run of the house now) So I bring him to work with me. He sure has learned a lot from being with me for the last 3 weeks now!
Fortunately for me :) Odin was crate trained by the breeder. So he may howl and growl a bit at first when he's crated but settles right down.
I do think that this is extremely valuable training time for him...very intensive.
OP, love your pups name :D
