Booster shots

My lil guy has 2 shots now, but he missed his 3rd shot. Now we dont exactly have $280 or so to dish out in 1 month for 2 shots (1 that he missed, and an extra to catch up says the vet).

I just got laid off for the season and wouldnt be able to get back to his shots till around March/April. Would this be an issue, or should he be fine?

He socialises with other dogs who have had their shots, and where we take him out in the bush is pretty clean, very little litter. He is an inside guy too.

Anyways just wanted to ask for opinion, I think he'll be fine. I've had dogs before that had no shots and lived 10-13+ years and were outside dogs.

IMHO, he'd be healthier without it! Notice the OPTIONAL quote!

My dogs only had 1 distemper and 1 parvo shot (agreed on with my holistic vet) in their lifetime (one is 5 & one 7 years old) and every year when I have them titered, they still have more than enough anti-bodies in their system!

Blackjack21's dog Loki is dealing with a horrible reaction right now from vaccination! Vet calls a it strange case with discovery of a series of other problems

Canine Vaccination Protocol By Dr. Jean Dodds DVM (Vaccination Researcher)
9 - 10 Weeks Old: Distemper + Parvovirus, MLV (e.g. Intervet Progard Puppy DPV, now renamed Nobivac DPV, when Merck and Intervet merged)

14 Weeks Old: Same as above

16 - 18 Weeks Old (optional): Same as above (optional)

20 weeks or older, if allowable by law: Rabies

1 Year Old: Distemper + Parvovirus,MLV (optional = titer)

1+ Years Old: Rabies, killed 3-year product (give 3-4 weeks apart from distemper/parvovirus booster )

Hope this helps!

can you buy them and administer yourself in Ca? We've done this (US) with most of our pups, then just the rabbies at the vet.

vetting in Ontario is expensive. You can't walk into an office here for $40.
