I would never put scent chemicals on my dogs. Olfactory sense shouldn't be overloaded or annoyed by them. If your dog smells, look at the diet, care etc...most GSD's don't smell. Unless there is a reason, and I'd rather address the problem than cover it with a scent. Look at the ingredients/manufacturer, China?

Thanks yeah I had my doubts. I never knew they even had it that's why I backed off.

I used to use Pet Effects grooming sprays and some other types of scented sprays on my Golden, not because she smelled bad- I just liked them. Groomers often use them, I got it from a groomer catalog. They never caused any problems and didn't affect her sense of smell. You can also get creme rinses for use when bathing dogs that have a scent that lasts, like Fresh n Clean creme rinse.

I guess I think of it from the dogs perspective. Not what I like but what they have to deal with. Groomers also put bows and hair ties on dogs, I doubt the dogs enjoy that, even though the owners do.

Lisl smells wonderful without anything. No 'doggie' smell, or dirty sort of smell. She smells clean.

Even the family at Christmas remarked that she either smelled really good or they couldn't smell her at all.

My pup went through a stage where he had an odor. Not sure what that was about. Maybe he mildewed. ;) Now, when I sniff him he smells clean .. almost like grass or hay. I do admit that I like when my little dog comes back from the groomer and smells nice and froo frooey .. he never seems to be bothered or notice.

I don't think dog calogne is bad if you don't use too much of it.

If you're experiencing persistent odor issues (aside from the health problems mentioned...just wet or dirty dog) then try cedar oil or another natural-based scent. Healthier for you and your handsome pup! :) I usually buy mine in spray form and put in on my pup's bedding. Also, giving her the occasional coat spritz makes cuddling a lot nicer, lol!
