Hello, I have a 14 year old prebred German shepherd. Recently I got a new puppy. I had been thinking of getting another gsd. Pedigree does not matter to me. I was NOT actively looking for one, when I came across a ad on craigslist. Free purebred 8 week old gsd. I thought this was to good to be true or a scam. I decided to check it out anyways. Apparently this guys friend was deployed and left him with 7 pups. He said he was supposed to sell them. But he works twelve hour days and just didn't want to deal with it. They were in his basement in a pen. He said that he never spent anytime with them except to clean up and feed them. We went down to the basement and they were all cuddle up in the corner. Scared to death. He tried to get me to take 2, and if I didn't already have others I would have. My daughter picked out the runt. Which is fine with me
my vet said he looks great and is healthy. He said both parents are purebred. He knew them personally. So just curious if you think he is? Looks like it to me. Sorry this is so long, I just thought I'd share the story. Here's our boy - TROUBLE at 2,3 and 5 months.Sent from Petguide.com Free App |

Thanks
re reading my post I realize that it sounds like my vet personally knows the parents. He does not. I meant the guy giving them away for his friend. He's is a handful. The name trouble suits him perfectly.![]() Sent from Petguide.com Free App |

This post sends shivers up my spine. Trouble is adorable and very lucky to have found you. The shivers come from whatever happened to rest of those pups. I hope and pray that they went to homes as good as yours.
I am not too familar with GSD standards so I am not the one to comment on whether he is pb, but he sure is cute and to my untrained eye looks pb. |

the dog is only purebred if it is registered and has a pedigree - otherwise it is just an opinion.
Not trying to sound mean (but I know everyone will take it that way) - but why do so many people go to BYBs and buy unregistered puppies and then come onto forums and ask if their dog is a purebred? Purebred means from an unmixed lineage. You cannot tell that from simply looking at a puppy. You only have a purebred dog when you have a pedigree and registration to back it up. |
