Just looking for your thoughts on having micro chips put into my puppies.
Has anyone done this? Sent from Petguide.com Free App |

Yes!
Microchips help your puppy get returned to you when lost. My girls have found several dogs over the years and only one was microchipped. We got that back to his owner very quickly because we knew who he belonged to. The others were a lot more difficult to track down. I know of no negatives for microchipping. |

Yes I microchipped my puppy, actually the breeder did because she wanted to make sure each puppy had some form of identification before traveling to new homes etc.
SOme people claim it can cause cancer, but with the risk of being lost so much higher, it's very worth it to me

In my state all dogs have to be chipped by law
![]() It's not a problem, the worst I've had was my last pup lost the first chip they put in when he was tiny - apparently that can happen when they don't pinch the hole shut after insertion Sent from Petguide.com Free App |

My pup was microchipped at the shelter and i think its a great idea. Its great if a tag falls off if they unfortunately run away and if your dog gets turned in they can scan him and phone you to let you know they have your pet.
and my vet was able to pull up his info on his first visit just by scanning him.

You can't even advertise puppies for sale here unless they are chipped. Sent from Petguide.com Free App |

Thank you everyone for your thoughts. My pups are 10 and 5 months old. I guess I'll just wait until they are a little older and have it done. I can imagine them ever getting lost

Truthfully, you should have it done now. What are the chances of not finding your pup if it runs off now? Open the car door, oops, pup is gone! I had Harley done as a pup, if his tags fall off I know he will be returned to me if he gets scanned. Great peace of mind. Oh, and after you get it done, take him/her to another vet and have them scan them, see if the chip works.
