5 month female GSD -Noelle

Hey everyone,

For about 3 weeks now, she has diareah... We thought it was the kind of treats and when that wasn't it, we visited our vet and he put her on 2 antibiotics. He said some thing about her mother carrying a bacteria that transfers over to her pupppies??? The pills are not working and she continues to go diareah all the time. All her life she has been eating the Fromm brand for larger puppies. That is the only constant in these 3 weeks. This is the first time she has ever had diareah...

Any suggestions?

Give her royal canine for gsd puppies. It helped my puppy when she had bad diarrhea.

Is it diarrhea like water or pudding? I've been going through the same thing with mine, but she is 18 months. She doesn't ask to go out constantly, but its pudding like the times that she usually goes. I had one day of firm poop. I put her back on the metronidazole. She tested negative for parasites and the vet does not think its EPI. I also feed Fromm Gold Adult.

Have her checked for Giardia. It's a special test. Dante ended up with it when he was 4 1/2 months. Our vet did 2 treatments of Panacur.

Her diareah is like a pudding. At first there was hard poo, then right after that came out the pudding would start. Now it's more of the pudding... We are going to call the vet tomorrow and see what the deal is. We will ask him about Giardia, thanks!

Mine is exactly the same...did a fecal and no parasites or Giardia. I almost wish it was so I could treat it

Our vet also has us use supplements. He said a lots of GSD's have sensitive stomachs. We give Dante 3 Gastriplex and 1 GI-Revive twice a day. I'm not sure if it helps but he has normal poop. On a side note when I had him checked for Giardia I took in two stool samples and only one showed it.

Is it possible you are feeding too much, have you upped her portions recently? I know when mine eats extra food her poops get less firm

We had the same thing, we brought down the food by 1/2 a cup, and added pure pumpkin which firmed them up.

Once and awhile he will have a solid one and then immediately poop pudding as you call it. I'm thinking at that point too much food.

Around here, anything edible is eaten no matter the quantity. We have to be careful not to overfeed as Zeus will eat anything and everything. So, extra food is an unknown here.

Sorry to hear about the continuous diarhea. Must be a mess.
