What am I going to do with her

Emma got her second to last shots today - everything is good. 14 weeks 26 lbs. She hated going to the vet and knew where we were going as soon as I out her in the truck, and cowered all the way in - this is until the nice lady gave her a treat. (they use pieces of dog biscuits)

So we can now socialize, so I need to read up on how to do it. Step by step would be good on how to approach another dog and what to look for - dont want any carnage.

But that's not the big problem. It snowed again today and in the last hour we got an inch of new slush. She wanted out for a potty break (good at ringing the bell now), so I opened the door and she went out and pee - then off to find her poo spot Phone rang - went to answer - old friend of the wife.

Well to make a long story short, in the two minutes I was not watching she found a mud puddle, by the new tree we planted, and is now no longer black and tan - just tan, Mud Tan. She sure was happy to make a mess of the kitchen before I could grab a towel . She came through the door like a greased pig too. I was still on the phone and just opened the door to her let me in bark

So now what do I do - one happy muddy puppy in front of the fireplace, and me to clean the floor before wife gets home?

Well the kitchen is cleaned up

Emma is dry Just dry - still all tan

I have a cold one

Best news is the vet recommended we get her Beef Bones - for her chewing on everything issues (the local market has them frozen - big knuckles) The boss unit brought a package home. It nice to see Emma quiet for 2 hours - so far

Highly recommended for anyone that need peace and quiet for a while

PS: does Bitter Apple spray work to keep the land sharks off the furniture legs?

Beginning to think I should write a book - but I thing Jag and Grim would have a best seller

It has been my experience they treat all of those sprays like BBQ sauce.

The nastier the spray the better they like it.

Bitter apple spray = I put it on things, she licked them excessively until all the new yummy liquid was off and then threw up an hour later from eating so much of it >:[

rubbing alcohol works well for me. I rub it on something she had chewed on and then I bring her to it. if she shows interest in it I rub her nose in it or rub a paper towel which has some on it until she wants away. they get the association thing pretty quick. just like potty training though, you can't punish after the fact. "leave it" works very well now except for licking the dishwasher! she can't not leave it alone

Please do NOT rub your dogs nose in anything!! Their sense of smell is MUCH MUCH greater than ours and it can be very uncomfortable for the,

Bitter apple has never ever worked for me, dogs seem to love it. All I could do was redirect onto a toy, bully stick or antler over, over and over along with praising when they chew what you want them to. It's a long process and can take awhile you just have to stick with it and be consistent.

I had something similar happen, it had just rained and I let my puppy out in the backyard, I went in the house for a second to do something and when I came back out he was having the time of his life digging in a hole filled with muddy water.

Its morning and Emma is only 1/2 tan. Need to clean the crate as a lot rubbed off on the towels overnight.

Right now she is in the yard rolling and playing in the 4 inches of fresh snow - leaving brown dog angles

So maybe I wont need to give her a bath after all.

I have the towel and treat ready to catch her the moment she is in the door so I wont haft to clean the floor again . Boss unit said I did a good job last night and something about I should do it more often I have selective hearing and did not catch the last part.

I wouldn't suggest rubbing alcohol. Am not sure where I read this, but it can mess up a dogs sense of smell??? Not even sure if its true but my pups reaction to rubbing alcohol is horrible...
