Default Good training books?

Does anyone have a good recommendation for books about training a puppy and general information about the GSD breed? I wanna be super prepared before our little boy is ready to be picked up in mid April. I also was wondering if anyone had advice about what to do with wires and puppy proofing the house. I have never had a pup since I was about 8 I have just rescued older dogs that didn't need any puppy training. Overly prepared and not sorry! Haha

For training books I love "The Complete Idiot's Guide to Positive Dog Training." It is my very favorite. Others that I like are "Dog Tricks for Dummies" and "The Power of Positive Training."

For just understanding animals I like "Reaching the Animal Mind" and "The Man Who Listens to Horses." I don't get nearly as frustrated with my "stubborn" dog since reading these books.

I didn't like it. It has several good things but also old school like the Alpha roll.

Definitely :" The Power of Positive Dog Training" by Pat Miller
and "The Perfect Puppy" by Gwen Bailey.
But most important a good puppy class followed by a basic class.

I like "The Art of Raising a Puppy" by them. I wouldn't really use it as a training book but it is a good read and helps people understand a little more about dog behavior.

I have German shepherds for dummies, another German shepherd book, called training your german shepherd by Dan rice. Also dog training for dummies, and the everything dog obedience book. They've been helpful.
