Unhappy What to do?

I'm really worried recently... My mum bought tickets to Poland in a few months and now my dad is telling me that Zack will have to go to a shelter because noone can take care of him I don't know if he's being honest or not I don't know I wish I could take Zack to one of those hotel places where you leave your pet with them and you pay them but I don't have the money for that What to do? We don't really have any friends that would take care of Zack... I'm really worried about that What to do??????

Where did you get Zack from? Did you get him from a breeder, is there any way you might be able to contact the breeder and ask her if she will board him for you?

First of all explain to your dad how important your dog is for you.
If you are in school, ask a teacher that you trust or call a shelter or a vet clinic and ask if one of their employees can board him.

How did you find the breeder in the first place? It has only been a couple of months. Did you lose the dog's papers? It might be on his papers. Her name should be on the papers, maybe you can google it. Did you send her an e-mail? Maybe look back into your sent e-mails.

There is more to knowing your pup's breeder's number than whether or not she will board him, you might want or need to tell or ask her something concerning his health or behavior. At least try to find it. Before considering taking the puppy to the shelter, you should consider taking it back to the breeder, or she might be able to give you ideas about a reasonable boarding place in your area.

How long are you going to be away?

If worst came to worst, maybe you can double your boarding time with training, and your father might see that as a benefit? But that will cost more most likely.

Adam, is your brother going to Poland as well, could he watch Zack? What about your friend with the little dog, can they watch Zack for you?
Maybe a neighbor could stop in a couple of times a day to walk, feed and play with Zack?
I'm sorry you're in a bind, but what does your Dad mean by taking him to the shelter?

come on, you don't know where you bought your dog?
if you can't remember your breeders name you must
know where they're located. go there.

Maybe he can't drive yet. There are times in people's lives when their choices are not necessarily what is going to happen, like before you are 18. If the folks are going to Poland and going to drop the dog in a shelter, than that is what's going to happen... Unless maybe, you can find another solution.

Is it possible that your dad is pulling your leg? It sounds like you thought maybe he was. Talk to your mom and see what she says about what you are going to with the dog while you are gone. Figure out what she wants to do. Bring it up by asking about what vaccinations will be needed for boarding -- some places may require bordetella so many weeks in advance, though you are in the UK, and I don't know what rules there are there.

Hey Speedy,
First talk to your parents and find out what they mean --exactly. Your Dad may think that shelters board dogs or can foster. If it is the case that they don't have any arrangement for Zack you can contact your breeder and your vet> How long will you be in Poland?

As far as I understand you're going just for a short time, couple of weeks in the worst case, am I right?? I really wouldn't like to loose a dog because of that, that should be the worst case scenario... as others suggested, you might try to find someone who will take care of your dog, maybe one of your friends, it might worth contacting your breeder for information too. If your parents understood how important that dog is for you they should help you with that asking their friends too, putting a dog to a shelter without at least trying to find a better solution is, well... Try to talk to them, they might be able to help too.
