Default the string of puppy biting threads?

i never post on them as i would be far to scathing on the OP's and run foul of the mods. seems to have been a run of them ltely and they are on evry dog forum. i get frustrated cos most of the posters are just describing completely natural behaviours and they want them "fixed" i mean seriously, what do you expect from a puppy, you never figured on this happening, is it really such a problem, you lack that much creativity that your posting as a last ditch effort before you might decide to rehome the dog, you use compulsion...

i just think most of these threads really show much ignorance and laziness in the posters and all these puppies that must be suffering cos they are being "fixed" by their owners.

so sad and wrong, am i missing something or being too harsh?

My pups were never over the top with their mouths...I played tug and gave them chew bones all the time. Tug stopped when teething was going on. They were fed raw, too, not sure if that played into anything behavior-wise.
I do wonder though, if most of these 'problem' pups were raised with littermates to help them learn bite inhibition? And of course genetics play into it.
Even my dog that has anxious/and aggressive tendencies wasn't a biter.
My pups preferred to take out their bites on cuz balls that I constantly tossed to them.

Everyone has to start somewhere. People are just inexperienced with working breeds and need help. I know everyone should research and study dog behavior and training techniques before they buy but we don't live in an idealistic world.

And some dogs(pups) don't know how to control themselves.

Some puppies are mouthier than others. Harley was a beast and he played to win. There was a learning curve on our part. With each dog it's gotten easier to control because now we know more.
Coming to a public forum and asking for help isn't a sign of laziness and people only know what they know until they learn something different. Cut them a little slack.

MadLab nailed part of it. Lack of research. Yes, all pups bite and use their mouths. NOT like most GSDs, though! Then you have the "special" shepherd pups... like my current one. After four of them, I thought I was prepared. NO WAY!! My puppy was 'broken', LOL! I tried redirection, distraction, leaving the room, tiring out, crating, working the mind... and just plain peeling his teeth off me over and over. NOTHING worked. Keep in mind, *some* of those posting have "special" pups like mine. Some just think they do! We resorted to long pants, socks and shoes before letting loose the cute little thing with a mouth of razor blades! My wife didn't play with him or pet him. I tried to pet and play with him as much as possible to bond with him. This is why I have scars all over my arms and legs. Had he been my first shepherd, I'd probably been on here posting, too. Asking for help while sobbing and taking lots of Xanax! Some people couldn't deal with a pup that you couldn't hold, couldn't cuddle, could barely pet, and never closed his eyes (let alone slept) when out of his kennel. I thought it was freaky!

So although they should look through the other million threads before posting a new one... I don't fault them. I wonder if they're dealing with one like mine. Then I smile.... because he's past that stage. Next, I cry, because he's in a worse one.
