![]() ![]() ![]() Ok, no seriously I think the dog is gonna be a mental case when he's a little older. Here's why. Our two Egyptian Mau kitties have not liked him from day one. We did the whole proper introductions as the pros recommended. Took forever. Put the doggy in the crate, let the kitties come around and smell for hours. Then put the kitties in there crate and let the doggy smell all around. Blah blah. Bottom line is the kitties live upstairs now. They come down once in a while to see us on the couch. The dog then sees them and it's a "NO" and "LEAVE IT" and divert to toys fest. The cats used to be afraid of him at age 8 weeks, but now they are planning attacks on him at puppy being age 16 weeks now. He's also 40 lbs. So, kitties must be seeing him growing and growing and be thinking to themselves "Holy crap how big is this thing going to be? We should kill it before it's any bigger"! Haha. Here's the funny, but NOT so funny story. Last week Jaxon somehow used a towel inside his XL Kong crate to pull the crate far enough so he could get upstairs unbeknownst to us. He goes upstairs into the kitties bedroom. He eats all their food. Knocks their water over. You know, neighborly things to do. Our two kitties strategically got on both sides of him and jumped him, ambush style. They weigh about 17 lbs each, big kitties. Jaxon was screaming like a little girl and the kitties were sitting on top of him literally punching him with their kitty arms. It's the funniest thing I've ever seen. Too bad the phones were downstairs when we went to investigate. When Jaxon comes upstairs for anything, it's an all out war. The cats will chase him now and jump on him. They aren't afraid. I hope the poor dog isn't traumatized, because I'm no longer worried about the cats. Jaxon is terrified of them. ![]() ![]() ![]() Gratutious dog using Facetime Pic. It's all the rage at the dog parks these day. ![]()

OMG!
Funniest thing I've read in awhile!! Cats and puppies can create some VERY funny moments! When my previous male was a pup, we had a cat that was declawed. He'd go up to her and she'd swat him in the face and he'd keep getting in her face. Well.. we got another cat that looked just like her. He wasn't declawed. So the pup goes part way up the stairs to get in the cat's face. He gets swatted with claws!! He cried like crazy, fell down a few stairs trying to get away... then stood there staring at the cat. You could see the confusion on his face. He never did get that we had TWO cats, LOL!

For reference, here are the big bad cats. LOL
![]() ![]() ![]() Poor Jaxon. He already outweighs them combined by 5 lbs. In 6 months he will be close to 90, the rate he is growing. Vet says he's gonna be a big boy. I hope he stays afraid of kitties, that way he won't want to eat them. |

Just a little warning. When Hondo was a pup I carefully introduced him to our barn cats. Each time I took Hondo outside to potty (on a leash) they'd come investigate. Then one evening, before I could react they boxed him. Scared him, as they would normally just give nose to nose contact. After that, each time I took him out the cats would try to creep up on him and give him another dose of cat-boxing.
Hondo is now 3 years old. He HATES the cats. He'd kill them if he had the chance. Seriously. I keep double tags on him so he makes a lot of noise when he is creeping along to find them.

Sometimes friendships start off on the ruff side.
Hopefully he learned to respect the kittys and everyone will live happily everafter.
